Compile your own personal La's album here!

Postby lasersafari » Thu Apr 17, 2008 11:24 am

....As we have got yet another version of a lot of the tunes in our hands, and after talkin to Rod Cow about this very thing, I thought I would be nice to start a thread for everyone to compile their own personal favourite La's album from what we have got hold of over the years.

The tracklisting is from Mavers original album order list from Macey's book.

Mine is below - would be interesting to see what everyones list would be (if anyone can be bothered! haha)

Son Of Gun (Liz Kershaw session)
Freedom Song (Janice Long session)
Clean Prophet (GOLAS 3 B-side)
Come In Come Out (Japanese Singles)
Way Out (Nicky Campbell session)
Doledrum (John Porter mix)
There She Goes (Japanese Singles)
Feelin' (Bob Andrews mix)
Timeless Melody (GOLAS 3)
I.O.U. (Mike Hedges mix)
Over (Liz Kershaw session)
I Can't Sleep (Jeremy Allom mix)
Knock Me Down (Mike Hedges mix)
Liberty Ship (Japanese Singles demo)
Callin All (Mick Moss mix)
Failure (Original Album)
Looking Glass (Mike Hedges mix)
Who Knows (Japanese Singles)

Was thinking of doing the same thing myself! On a related note can anyone think of any other band who have recorded so many studio versions of the same batch of songs? Got me right puzzled has that!

I guess it might change in future, but currently I'm listening to it like this...

Son Of A Gun (Liz Kershaw)
Freedom Song (Janice Long)
Clean Prophet (Mike Hedges)
Come In, Come Out (Bob Andrews)
Way Out (Andy McDonald Remix - from blue TSG EP)
Doledrum (John Porter mix)
There She Goes (1988 Single)
Feelin (Alternative version from Feelin' cd single)
IOU (Alternative version with count in( ) from Feelin' cd single)
Over (Timeless Melody single version)
I Can't Sleep (Liz Kershaw)
Knock Me Down (Mike Hedges)
Liberty Ship (4 Track Demo)
Callin' All (Demo with the spooky vocals at the start)
Failure (Mike Hedges)
Looking Glass (Lilywhite)
Who Knows (Japanese singles version - the only version?)

And, not being that much of a purist, I stuck Endless on the end as well.

Sorry, I completely missed Timeless Melody, for which I like the GOLAS 12" version.
