Lyrics to "The way we came"

Postby AcidDreams » Wed Dec 30, 2020 11:39 am

So I can't help but love the way we came. I would say it's probably my favorite, but I don't know the lyrics and I can't find them anywhere. I tried writing them up myself, but the lack of quality and the fact that English is not my first language make it impossible for me to do so. If anyone could help I would be very thankful.

My favourite song of all time. Nothing gives it a run for its money. My mind went absolutely blank upon hearing it for the first time.

English is my first language and I've had just as much trouble writing out the lyrics. I managed to get some fragments of it which I will come back and post later when i got the time.

Seriously if anyone on here has got the full lyrics I'll love you forever lol

I reckon due to borin shit like tape transfer issues its piched too high n too speedy

I brought it down some and brought out some elements

think I lowered it a bit too much in the following version, like, but sounds more natural and 10 minutes of the song? who on Lee's green herb is gonna complain

Aight it's about time I post what I can hear of these lyrics. On Tony's YouTube upload, someone else has put their interpretation which is pretty different to mine in places, and I've listened to it more than I have born days, but still, this geez could be right.

Verse 1:
....
... don't let them know
One thousand streets where I we can roam

Verse 2:
.....
Don't let them loose, they won't come back

Verse 3:
....
Don't make me cry
I can't say which, don't ask me why
I just can't face to tell a lie

Verse 4:
....
We passed them down
The ways were shown
And people's names were made their own

Verse 5:
Don't say you didn't know
The tears of joy and pain sorrow
But life is all a game, you know
Along we came, away we'll go

Verse 6:
Don't say you know the way
That rivers flow and water rain
And silver snow, they know their way
And time slips by, by the way

Verse 7:
...
We wait for the rain ...
All the way, the way we came

Verse 8:
Don' t say you didn't go
Down passageways where weeds have grown
To go the way, the way we came
But don't you say you didn't know

AA A AAA A A A A A AA A
IT'S SO PERFECT

I waited years to hear this one and it doesn't disappoint. Love the bassline! So different from anything else that made the album. Maybe closer to the sound of the B-side Endless or the sitar sounds on the alt version of Feelin'. I wish they had tried this one in the studio.

Was Badger still in the band for this lineup? There are some versions of Timeless Melody that have elements that were clearly cut from Breakloose. I always wondered if he cut those parts out because he genuinely didn't like the arrangement or if it was because of songwriting royalties issues. Maybe the same reason there isn't a studio version of Callin' All that's any good.
