Searched about a bit and don't think this has been discussed before. Got speaking to the uploader in the comment section, turns out he was resident DJ at the Basins club when the La's played. Says he is reluctant to post the whole gig on YouTube due to its rarity, but might approach the band to do a limited vinyl release. Fingers crossed!

The audio quality is really good, maybe the best I've heard from the early days. Mentioned it was an engineer desk recording - is that the same as a soundboard? Not overly clued-up on that sort of terminology

Yeah a limited run of 30 copies, so I suppose it costs a bit more. Got some spare cash kicking around atm - gonna treat myself

Did he approach the band as he originally wrote? Are they going to benefit?

It's not his material to sell, strictly speaking.

Stellar man Tony. Personally I'd like the band to give an approval as well, have some control for once.

On reflection I've decided against it. You're right Tony, this kind of stuff should be done free on YouTube - unless Lee has said otherwise.

I didn't actually ask the guy re contacting the band, his lack of mention leads me to assume no.

Suppose I let myself get a bit carried away due to it being a 'new' recording, but that shouldn't come before moral grounds. Apologies

Does sound very clear and raw!

£40 is £20 too much though
