Number 25 - There She Goes

Pfft

Just had a look, I'm quite sure it's listed at 22.

Keeping good company though.

Monkey Gone to Heaven / More than a Feeling number one. Here's my cheeky supermarket snapshot, for the arsed. (At least "Love Will Tear us Apart" was #2)

22.

Among the most beautiful songs in the whole of British pop’s vast canon, ‘There She Goes’ is as close to perfection as any English songwriter has got since the '60s. Lee Mavers always said that the songs came to him, and that he was merely their vessel to wider public consciousness; but it’s hard to take that seriously when you consider just how faultless his greatest achievement really is.

Even ignoring the timeless riff and its split-personality vocal (Mavers veers tantalisingly between star-crossed choìrboy and scally reprobate), the tumbling Merseybeat melody of ‘There She Goes’ is as masterful an execution of classic pop songwriting as you’ll ever hear.
