Hi mate, he was a man of many styles and I'm sure other people will have some other great suggestions but I'd recommend Solid Air and Grace and Danger as two great records. It's worth having a listen to an album like The Tumbler or Stormbringer to get a feel for his earlier stuff and how he evolved into his electric side out of the London folk scene of Bert Jansch, Davey Graham, John Renbourn, Jackson C Frank etc.

I just have the Deluxe reissue of Solid Air. Very enjoyable.

Shop around for recent CD reissues, if you're buying CDs, because some of the original CD issues of his albums are awful, really awful. Non existant mixing/mastering, tin can up to the ear stuff.

Nice one, both.

Just downloaded (the remastered) Solid Air off i-Tunes so I am off and running.

Excellent Martyn doc if you get chance to see it. Crops up on BBC4 from time to time although sure it's available by other means

I like London Conversation (debut), Bless The Weather and One World, if not just for the sublime Small Hours - years ahead of its time. But agree lots of different styles and directions.
