You don't need to start from F if you're going by that site - that's just an example. You're right about the standard chord shapes - but he wasn't playing in standard tuning at the gigs, iirc. It sounded about half a step down to me. Maybe he's spent a while messing with intonation, string gauges, setup, to get it to sound right?

I worked out Lee's Crescent tape tuning years ago and that was a full step or step and a half down . . . but it's higher now.

Hmm I dunno, I can't decipher it from that site..maybe along the same lines as those guitar necks but still standard tuning so to speak? Could take a while to get it...

it is a bit mad. Take a bit of looking into I think. The notes are definitely 1/2 step down. When you tune the guitar down, it still tunes down to 440 hz even thought the note are lower. further investigation required.

Is 440Hz not the frequency for concert A? This would be so much easier with that iphone app :wink:

What was the name of the iPhone app? Any idea? Sounds really interesting!
Any idea where you might buy that Martin guitar? Searched Google, but the only thing I find is pictures : /
Really cool video and it's great to read firstperson accounts of meetings with the man himself! Thanks for sharing! : )

I'm watching that one. Been thinking of ways to raise the cash, not much chance at moment. Might just bid and take the grief!! Good price for a good guitar like!

I got an email from Scott Power who was the promoter / agent for the live gigs...

Lee asked me to let you all know the tuning references...

E = 81hz
A = 108hz
D = 144hz
G = 192hz (in the sequence should be 189 but needs to be upped 3hz to fall into tune.)
B = 243hz
E = 324hz

The iPhone app we have been using is called cleartune. You change the A4 calibration in the settings from 440hz to 432hz and away you go.

I think Cleartune is on Android too ...

Have to say, that's fucking cool of Lee. I can now see that it works! Cheers Lee!

I quite like it, I've only had a brief muck about with it but it's got a nice smooth sound, pretty easy on the ears. That guide is spot on.

Joseph Goebbels indeed. Lee's bang on, you can feel chords at 432 as well as hear them. Great that he's spreading the word. Nice one.
