Always warms my heart a bit to hear how good his voice still sounds, gives me hope for the new recordings (not that I have much hope of them ever emerging, but nevermind).

But not one but two La's fans not recognizing Voodoo Child? For shame!

When recording I tune pre-nazi as well. Interesting. Good to see The La's embracing some tech!

Gary seems to have re-lit the fire in Lee I think. Hope people have had fun with the tuning.

Don't suppose you noticed the actual model number of his martin(s) did you? I know we think / pretty sure they are 000m and 000-16 RGT, just wandering if you can confirm or have any info on them? His acoustic sound is quality (guitar geek I know!!).

Nice one
Chris

Hi Mate,

Just to let you know - his two Martin gets are:

- a 000m - road series guitar - still available c£500
- 00016RGT - no longer available in rosewood back (I won one - they are ace)

In the 90's he also used a Martin Shenandoah and some Tokai Cats Eyes guitars I think.

Hope this helps.

Nice one man,

I've searched the net high and low trying to get the model numbers, found these pics but thats as far as i got

If you zoom in you can make to the 000? and the other one you can sort of make out 000-16rgt

You have the 00-16rgt? - nice one, gonna give this tuning a go. Never heard of this, gotta get my head around it.

Thanks again

Hi will, if you've got an electronic tuner you should be able to manually adjust the frequency using some arrows or something

Yeah - first one is the newer 000M. Saw him playing it in London and Sunderland. Clocked the model number. Quite a cheap Martin - good one for a fan to buy.

Second is the 00-16RGT. Indian rosewood back and sides and only made up to around 2004 when they stopped making them with this endangered tree. It's now known as the 000-16GT - i.e. without the R for rosewood. Still a nice guitar though and available for about £750-800 on ebay now and again. About £900 new.

Hope this helps mate. Just tried the tunings with the same iPhone app that Gary has and must admit I can't get it to work at all at the moment. Sounds totally out of tune.

Should the notes be tuned half a step down (Eb etc), would that make any difference to make it sound in tune??

Getting on the new tuning now (used gStrings Free for Android).
It's weird as fuck.
Especially that 333 E string. Sounds completely out of context.
