Awesome! I really wanted to get tickets for that but just couldn't justify spending the cash. Heaton Park is no doubt going to be a pretty amazing experience, but it's a heck of a lot more impersonal than seeing them in a venue that size.

They've got 17 new songs, so I assume there will be a new album. They'll be playing new ones on tour as well apparently.

Howdo Chris, hope you're doing well.
So how good is your contact who says it's 17 new songs? :)
I'm hopeful for at least a new single before the gigs but 17 newies would be great.

I'm doing fine thanks pal, I'm bloody top. Loads of news to come soon!

The Roses themselves first said they had 17 new ones in their press conference, and my contact said it's all good, he also told me to put money on them getting back together, but we were both badly drunk and I didn't believe and then one month on, there's a world tour announced!

I find it hard to believe the roses have 17 new songs already. I mean this is a band who at its peak didn't write 17 songs in 5 years let alone 5 months!
The comment in the press conference was just a jokey throwaway line by Reni if I remember correctly. There definitely will be new material and it will be played, but I think its more likely to be 7 than 17. They did sign a big record deal recently though so fingers crossed.

a few of them are solo album songs that were never used by Ian, John and such. There's definitely 'an album' knocking around. There was scraps of a recording of the rehearsals somewhere.

I really hope that against all odds they come up with something great and concentrate on leaving a legacy of decent records. Three albums would be good. it's a bit nitroglycinal to just get back together and go on a spring/summer tour when they have probably not mended all the fences that got knocked down. Especially at the age of 50. I hope they survive the summer get together and get out a new album then knuckle down to writing a truly impressive fourth album. As lee himself noted, when your'e gone they they only thing left of you. Still, the shows will brighten up the summer and put some money in mani and renis bank accounts so all good i guess.

as it's been said on here a few times, it's the atmosphere at the gig, imagine the goosebumps when the first note of Mani's bass in 'I Wanna Be Adored' the place will erupt when the drums come in. Same as the stripped back gigs last year, hairs on the neck stand up, that's what a gig is about.

never been much of a gig goer cept for seeing the la's and the roses back in their hayday. I prefer nourishing yourself on a big fat juicy record anyday. The stone roses especially are a bit of a car crash live to me...Lee well, he's a different matter but i'd still take a record anyday

I don't think Reni's claim at the press conference that they had '17 new stuffs' was ever meant to be taken seriously. If you watch it again, it seems quite clear that he's joking around.

I do think an album is on the cards - they're not the sort to just reform for the dosh, albeit plenty of it.
But they were ripped off first time round anyway.
I've heard they've been rehearsing 8 hours a day, and a catchy new single is in the pipeline.
Would be great to be at the 1st gigs in Barcelona, but will have to settle for Heaton Park in June!
