Fishin' Net is a classic song. By classic I mean it could been have written centuries ago and still sound contemporary, kind of what The La's are all on about.

i just love "It's Impossible" even the "Cha mmah, Cha mmah" beginning :D
In fact it's the song that got me hooked on The La's. Gotta agree with gaetano about "Fishin' Net" though; utterly timeless but also utterly The La's.

Picking just one song was tougher than I thought it would be.

I went for "Tears in the Rain" with "Fishing Net" and "Go Go Daddy" close behind.

Tears in the Rain. Love the way he sings the solo like he did on the 'Much Music' Timeless melody.
Didn't the label boss say they did 30 odd songs. I'd love to hear the others which I presume were the album tracks and b-sides, if they'd have leaked it'd probably be the perfect La's album! Wonder why they never got out.

Tears In The Rain

Though it was a close call between that and Our Time - "the reasons unravel throught the seasons I travel" is possibly the greatest lyric in the world...ever (man).

Our Time... sounding very promising, wonderful lyric and melody...

I love the actual performance of the Rennes live recording of 'Something I Said/Fishing Net', it's much better than the actual Kitchen recording, bit petty, but thats why I didn't pick that... :)

Our Time. The kilter and mood of the song is so fresh. Maybe I've just worn down the impact of the other songs, having heard them so much.. but that one never seems to become dull. I wish they had recorded like that more, with that kind of 'spirit' to the delivery.
