The photo below only appeared in the print edition, it appeared as a colour photo and also as a black and white photo, on the same day, it might have been where certain Irish newsagents sourced their print run from. Maybe a difference in domestic (UK) and foreign print runs..

Smash Hits - Date unknown - UK

Smash Hits was a pop music magazine, aimed at teenagers and young adults and originally published in the United Kingdom by EMAP. It ran from 1978 to 2006 and was issued fortnightly for most of that time. The name survives as a brand for a spin-off digital television channel and website. A digital radio station was also available but shut on 5 August 2013.

Smash Hits printed lyrics from chart songs, there's a few for The La's, I think this one was on the staples!

A decade ago now. A snippet from the UK newspaper, The Guardian. Page 29 of, 'The Guide'. Saturday June 11 - June 17, 2005. A small format booklet advertising and covering arts and live events for the coming week.

There's a mention of a 'bizarre appearance' at the Phoenix Festival. The wiki page for the festival doesn't seem to mention the band.

Crazy photo.....my brother and I saw them at the Marquee in NY in July 1991 and snuck backstage after. Curt Smith was hanging around and I always recalled that someone was snapping photos. I was telling the story to my kids and we googled Mavers/Smith/etc and this photo came up and low and behold my brother is standing in the background directly between them. Crazy.

Anyway...I know there are more photos from that night...I see this photo is credited to Tim Jarvis....is he on this site? Does anyone know this guy?

Tim Jarvis, as far as I can tell, is married to the singer (Moya Brennan/Máire Ní Bhraonáin) from Clannad, since 1991.. and, strangely, may live down the road from here. (South County Dublin)
