Just reviewed it for the next ish of the Shindig mag ...
Doesn't seem like a cash-in to me. It's been 10 years from the initial issue so the timing is right ... I mean not too soon.
The sound quality IS improved ... in some cases dramatically. I've always considered some of the tracks good enough to include them on my own La's comps, but I've never done that because of the poor sound compared to the rest of the tracks I used to include.

I picked one up this morning from them, I'll report back on the booklet. Euro price charged for the CD itself is €5.49.

Hello All, can anyone tell me if this release is worth buying -The La’s 1986-1987 ‘CALLIN’ ALL’
Deluxe Edition Remastered + Bonus tracks

I can see there are a few tunes that i have never heard such as don't lock me out / dont get me wrong etc

Is this more of the Badger era fare or are these Mavers tunes?

Any info would be appreciated, is there anywhere on line i can preview these unhread tracks?

I purchased The La's 1984-1986 Breakloose (Viper CD052) release from play.com this week and it is much improved over the original release. 19 page booklet. I found the mixing on the original (Viper CD002) annoying to the ear.

There's a secret track..

Play now have it listed at £6 Sterling, delivery included. (28 July)

Get the version off the Viper site as it has download only tracks

Badger was involved with the playing of some of the songs but they are all Lee songs. Not studio quality, they are taken from rehearsals and are four track demos and things like that.

No previews on Viper or Amazon

Thanks Tony, is the songwriting quality up there with the record, or more crescent tape type sketches?

Hey All,

I just ordered the download only version of this Viper compilation, after having bought the first version a few years ago. I'm somewhat of an anorak, and I'm currently trying to organize my La's collection, so I'm very interested in recording dates. Unfortunately the download only version (by the way, I DID intend to buy the physical version, but somehow I screwed it up) isn't very helpful in that area.

So I was wondering if anyone out there would be kind enough to reply with any and all info regarding the following "previously unreleased" tracks? I sure would appreciate that. Believe me, I have tried searching everywhere on the internet for this info before coming on here.

Track 1 - Breakloose
Track 6 - Red Deer Stalk
Track 11 - Space Rocketry
Track 16 - Midnight Shift
Track 17 - You Don't Say
Track 18 - My Girl Sits Like A Reindeer
Track 19 - Cool Water

As for the remaining tracks, I am assuming they're the same exact versions as the first edition of "Breakloose," and thus the recording info is the same as it appears in the booklet of that release. Let me know if that's a safe assumption. Thanks.

Cheers all
