Seems slightly pointless... New booklet should be interesting though.

Bit of a surprise. Needless to say I'll probably end up buying it.

Well the milking is getting a little brazen isn't it? Now, if they put out a reissue of Callin' All with the full Picket gig and a few choice cuts from the tapes of the same rehearsal sessions that produced Over that Hemmings supposedly has... then we'd be talkin'.

Yeah, this is barely the La's, 99% of people here clamour for Lee material, not stuff from this era - considering last year had such an effort by Universal to get some old unreleased gems out there, this is the kind of thing that makes people think Badger is just milking more money out of the La's name. I bet all of the "unreleased" tracks are his, too. If Viper could put a better La's CD together than this, they should.

Yawn, no ta, this isn't the La's. Not to me.

Off to the naughty step I go!

Not The La's in the usual sense, but there are a couple of great tracks more than worth hearing. Also, the new re-issue comes with an improved sound quality and along with the 20-page booklet, additional tunes and the fact that it's a 10 year anniversarry, it all kind of makes sense to me.

a total badger viper milking session, i wont be purchasing...

To be fair to viper and badger or whoever pull the strings there, sure theyre all a little inbred family, its the sort of thing every record company does to stay afloat and on top. Its just that we've got our ears close to the ground with the la's so we see it happening in front of us.

Its like when you get into a new band when you're younger and you dont know which version of the 7 types of the same album to get.

Anything i've heard of the band pre-Mavers running the show has been dreadful at best.

I thought it was all cleared up last January unless Mike Badger is selling a story but he said Lee helped compile both albums Breakloose and Callin' All so Mike is getting a cut of the action but so is Lee. :D

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3556&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=mike+badger+january

“It’s important to point out that Lee helped to compile these two albums – some of the stuff on Breakloose I wouldn’t have thought as obvious choices but Lee was insistent on the earliest session going on because of the vibe-and he is very hard to please! I personally feel it was a brave move to release these albums considering the notoriety The La’s rightfully received after I left. But then I always refer to Joe Strummer’s stance and his idea of “I am proud of every record I have released – even the not so good ones.” And that’s how it should be.”

The La's - Lost La's 1984-1986 (Remastered Edition With 7 Bo

Postby Khris » Thu Feb 26, 2009 1:39 pm

Not happy about this release. The oringinal was released only a few years ago when, I don't doubt, these bonus tracks were available but were not included. Now, we are being asked to fork out another tenner for 7 tracks that are probably rather shite. I like the Viper label, but I don't like this move to rip more cash from La's fans:

Well only 6 tracks really, Breakloose (not the live version) was a bonus track on mine...
