Barry played (and dedicated) a loose feel version of Son of a Gun and a full versed seemingly complete Raindance. Boss night, sore head.

Not a bad cover that. Tough tune to play and sing to I'd imagine for anyone let alone someone of Barry's calibre.

Would be nice to hear raindance, all be it just 30 seconds of it!

Barry's night again yesterday, he played 'Raindance' again and dedicated 'Way Out' to me! anyway, managed to record 'em both. 'Raindance' is boss...

I've been lurking pretty prolifically over the last year or so, but thought it was about time I changed that. So, anyway...

Cheers for upping the raindance cover. I saw your post after the first night Sutton did and was hoping you'd post the 30 seconds you said you'd recorded, so pretty chuffed to log on this morning and see the fuller version. Makes for pretty interesting listening. I was wondering if it'd be significantly different from the version that appears on the Crescent tape but it sounds pretty much the same...which is fine by me as it's one of the highlights of that tape for me.

I actually didn't realise Barry was in the band at the time this was written, though I get a little mixed up on the chronology of the lineups at times. Unless he's the elusive new guitarist of course

Cheers for that mate. So is it a weekly slot he's got then? Can't wait to check it out if so.

It would be great if he joined Lee & Gary with a drummer, absolutely class.

Missed the start of 'Raindance' as I was finishing my pint, but glad I could stick it on here for some to enjoy at least. It is a weekly slot, every Monday at 8-11. Very loose, not set thing, Barry just scoots between guitar and piano as he feels. He played the last hour unplugged sitting on a table. Very relaxed atmosphere and Barry's really approachable. He stopped mid song to say hello to me yesterday when I walked in, a lot of people turning heads to look then!

Sounds like a good night...yet another I'll miss as a result of living down south.

You should ask Barry to play Human Race next week...this could be the closest we get to hearing the second album

Request of the man himself:

Big Society Blues @ The Lounge (Opposite the Brookhouse on Smithdown Road - for parking, just park in the Brookhouse car park behind the place) this and every Thursday from 9pm. Free entry. Bring an enemy.

Last time Barry played 'Raindance' (he said he did it 'cause I'd kick off otherwise!) and 'Doledrum' and was joined by Budgie,( who was the drummer Lee always wanted in his dream La's line up) always a boss night, last time Candie Payne, Dave McCabe and Kristian Ealey of The Joneses took the show in.

Hopefully see a few of ya's down there. C.
