which is better... ooh

on the second, or the single mix, took me years to make out but lee is doing some AMAZING stuff on the rhythm when he does the Em>C for the middle 8, does a little bass run on the G and A strings hammering on and off, but it's so buried in the mix... I have to choose that one, as it adds even more depth

I prefer the woodcray one anytime, passionate vocals and love the sound. But ain't the second one the "normal" version? And ive always wandered what he does on the middle 8 as well, thank you.

That second one is the single almost. On the boxset, there's a mistake - an earlier mix of TSG with cleaner vocals, cleaner everything, only for some reason it's running too high and fast

so that second video is that just corrected & pitched down (in retrospect I brought it TOO low) - love the purity of it, no reverb on Lee's voice, no tricks, just amazing, balanced mixing because it's basically Bob Andrews' version without the effects. Man, if they did the first album with him and all the songs had that level of being finished and that sound.... clean but rough, the La's in a nutshell

Check the actual single out, with its booming bass, to compare... but also the middle 8 in it, once you can work out what Lee's doing it'll blow your hair back

Yeah, the sped up version used to be my favorite, i love the jangly sound. IKR, wish Lee had settled with Bob. He did the best job imo. I don't like the vocals mixing on the "US" version, but the rest is alright

If you think mixing up video versions is bad, Jeff Buckley has a song on youtube with the wrong name while the song with the name they used wasnt even uploaded at all (and they are from the same album). And on spotify theres a version of "lover you should've come over" titled "lover you shouldn't come over" lol. And on a live perfomance on YouTube they wrote the chorus of the song on the description, BUT THEY WROTE THE BRIGE :x

(Additional question: Was this version of looking glass used for the Lillywhite album? The intro and the verses are indentical, but the rest is not. It's a bit intriguing to me.)

not sure how wild Lilywhite went; there's only one take of this available (they do exist, but not shared), and he probably just isolated mainly Lee a lot of it, and whacked his own ending ideas on (which I think are great tbh)

Happy 30th to this single. It's aged very well.

Oh yes, my favorite La's song. The Leckie version is my favorite.

Are the credits right? Wasn't this version played by Sharrock and Sutton?
