Some guy from the arctic monkey's website posted a item telling people not to pay for over priced cdr's when you can just go the site and download them for free :!:

anyone know how to do it :?:

I just checked out some of the links...

Are these people actually "fans" that come here and then try to make money off others who don't go to messageboards? Or do these leeches just go to any sites they might find with potentially interesting downloads...?! I don't get it... Either way - fuck 'em!

I have made CD-Rs (and DVDs) (with cover art) for myself (limited editions of one copy  ) of a lot of the stuff that I've acquired from here or directly from Syl but I would never, ever think of selling what I got, and what others can get for free!

Unbelievable!

BTW, the short band history on that "Ultimate Rare Tracks" CD page was straight from the back cover of Macey's book...

Flogging stuff downloaded from this site is very very cheeky but copying from the back of a book is even worse.

there's a lot of people doing it, not to paint everyone with the same brush, but it's probably usually the 'lurkers' who do a one off posting asking for stuff, only to stick it straight on ebay... they feel no connection with the band/music beyond putting coin in their pockets, therefore they probably feel no guilt in doing so...

again, dont get me wrong, some 'lurkers' are genuine fans who have no want or need to post on what kind of guitar strings Lee uses or what their top 5 songs are, they maybe just love 'There She Goes' or dont have much net access... fair play... fans one and all... its the ones who specifically fish about for the stuff when they fully intend to flog it on

i know some of the previous lurkers/posters who have done this have been banned etc. and thats the best thing for them - although you'll never stop them getting the material...

No disrespect to The Stairs, but at one point you couldn't give that CD away. I remember you could get 'cut-out' CD's of that album for next to nothing, strange.

He must be mad! Very valiant of him as I'm sure it'll go to a lucky La's fans' home. My bid is down!
