This has been doing my head in for a while now and I think I've worked out all the lyrics. Can't be sure I'm 100% right obviously. Whether I'm right or not this is some of the greatest poetry I've ever seen.
Oh, then don't get me wrong
When I sing you a song
By a lonely old man
That I met while out walking
In a lonely old road
And we got to talking
It was peoples and places,
Politics and graces,
Man in the world and the crisis he faces
And the circus ringmaster
Can take us no faster
Through the ring of a well
In deep bottomless disaster
Oh, then don't get me wrong
When I sing you a song
'Bout the shock at the bottom,
The short and the long,
Of the fat and the skinny,
The weak and the strong.
Of the questions, the answers,
The right and the wrong,
Of the right and the left
And your home is the end
Offer nothing left
Through the letter you send.
Oh, don't get me wrong
When I sing you a song
And I tell you, lie curled
And this world won't take long.
With a lonelier man
That the time is worth waiting
Just like everyone else
But the time that it's taken.
"Life is all a game, you know/Along we came, away we'll go."
