The chords are more or less D, Cadd9 or C and G.

Thank you Jaf but I already knew that, I think it 's more complex, some weird chords are missing but I didn't manage to find out them yet.

It's got the bottom E tuned down to a D, so that you can play the D chord with all six strings. This is how he gets that big sound on the chords. When you play the C you can dampen the E string. When you play the G chord you need to put your second finger on the A note (fifth fret) of the bottom E string (because its been tuned down a tone). Hope that helps. Cheers Dave

daveb has it spot on, tune bottom string to D so the note helps to ring out the D chord and also brings a lovely whole sound to the other chords. such a great song, excellent melody and really, as most songs by Mr. Mavers, simple chords but arranged brilliantly. If only more songs in modern music could be this excellent.

If you work it out you're along the right lines for doing the intro to 'Love Spreads' by the Stone Roses an all :D

Didn't Lee once say the little breakdown bit about 3/4 the way into the song is the closest The La's came to getting what he was after sound wise in the studio...?

I guess he'd throw the original '88 There She Goes mix in there too, as it could have been a '64 recording... warmth and a slight crackle...
