Complete List Of Songs

Postby dr_doom » Thu Jun 19, 2008 12:59 pm

I've looked through the 'Retrospective' section, and it's full of really impressive stuff, but is there a SUMMARY anywhere which simply lists ALL the songs The La's ever performed, be it in a studio, live or session?

Thanks!

Magic Bus, Get off My Cloud should be in Covers, as well as Dazed and Confused (Led Zep cover) and Texas Radio + The Big Beat (Doors cover)

Good effort though ;)

Unfortunately I fear the chances of us ever hearing recordings of either Magic Bus or Get Off My Cloud, are slim to nil I'm afraid.

Magic Bus was only performed during the handful of gigs in 1994/95. None of which appear to have been taped.

And Get Off My Cloud was only ever played once it seems: http://groups.google.co.uk/group/alt.rock-n-roll.stones/browse_thread/thread/1559d436a8d0929f/4e05fdaddf2994d6?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=%22the+la%27s%22+%22get+off+my+cloud%22

So again we'd have to be pretty lucky if a recording of that ever turns up. Always assuming the guy wasn't just getting mixed up with Jumping Jack Flash in the first place...

Very impressed with that list. Although, I believe "Go Go Daddy" is actually called "Coco Daddy" and "Let's Go for a Ride" was intended to be called "I Don't Care" 8)

There's also one I've never actually heard, which is more recent I believe is called "Stop!" Has anyone heard of it?

Could be from the 95 NME article, "Never Gonna Give up / Never Gonna Stop".

Not on this list: There's a few between-songs "Jams" from the early-ish days that don't have names, instrumental, but act as segues, like into Failure. There's about 2 or 3 unique ones on different bootlegs.

Plus what's that drum thing from the 2011 acoustic gigs? I since worked out the riff is "shave and a haircut, two bits", could be a "cover", could be Lee unaware of what it is.

Not strictly helpful, but I did see some internal notes from the label once, and working titles were on it, EG. "Big Black Car" for "I Can't Sleep".
