I saw him last month for the first time at The Eden Project. To be honest, although I'm a big fan of his solo stuff (as well as The Roses) I wasn't expecting too much as he's always getting slated for the quality of his live vocals. Still, my brother talked me into it and I wasn't disapointed...the vocals were quality. As well as a good mix of his solo stuff he also threw in 'She Bangs The Drums', 'Elizabeth My Dear' and 'Made Of Stone', as well as covering 'Submission' by the Sex Pistols (which incidently also included a little refrain from 'Hello, I Love You' by The Doors). Personally, I thought it was a great gig, one of the best I've seen this year (second to The La's at Sheffield), although I am a big fan of his. If you're thinking of going just to hear some Roses tunes I wouldn't bother as it seems like he varys what roses tunes he plays (if any). That said, on that particular night at the Eden Project the vocals were top and the vibe in the crowd was amazing. Very impressive.
